Causes & Treatment of Breast Cancer

First, the doctor needs to know the extent of the disease before planning on treatment of breast cancer. It is determined by the size of tumor and whether it has spread to other parts of the body. There are several options of treating breast cancer.

Some of these methods include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, biological therapy and hormone therapy. Some patients may receive more than one method of treatment. Surgery and radiation removes or destroys cancer cells in the breast whereas the chemotherapy, biological therapy, and hormone therapy which are systemic therapies enters the bloodstream and destroys or controls the cancer in the body.
