It was a common sight in super markets to find that ball, fixed to the ceiling watching the unsuspecting customers. They were the first hidden cameras used in public places. These were used to monitor the movement of customers, to prevent shop lifting.
Hidden camera was used for a long time to prevent crime by detectives and law enforcement officers, but they had limitations and were expensive to use. As digital technology developed, the hidden camera became cheaper to use and they could be made versatile using new technology.
Presently this handy instrument is used in every corner for all kinds of spying. The real hidden camera differs from CCTV with its small size. These cameras are now available embedded into such unsuspecting house hold items like table lamps, electric wiring, soda cans and even pens. It is not rare for the housewife to set a hidden camera to monitor the movements of he nanny when she is away from home.
Early cameras could only take still photographs but now they can display video in a remote location and they can record the same video for hour on end allowing the owner to view it later.
The modern hidden camera has come a long way to serve the society.
