Color blindness is caused when some cells in the retina don’t function as they should. Mostly people who have color blindness were born with it. Genetically it’s caused by the x linked recessive gene meaning that either your mother was also color blind or that she carried the color deficient gene. Aging and disease can also damage the retina cells and in severe cases they can lead to complete color blindness. Color blind fathers pass the gene only to their daughters who just carry it unless their mother also carries the color deficient gene. This problem affects more men than women.
